For our May meeting, long-time GAC member Thomas Heffner will provide discuss the life and accomplishments of Sir John Herschel, son of famed scientist Sir William Herschel. The younger Herschel formlated the Julian day system, used by astronomers to calculate the interval between two events.

At our March meeting, GAC honored Don Cline with a Lifetime Appreciation Award. Over the past three decades, Don Cline has literally built a legacy in NC astronomy, including construction of observatories at GTCC and Guilford College, and establishing the Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute among others. CONGRATS!!
